About Dr. Ahmad
Dr Ahmad Elkhatib is a Jordanian board Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) surgeon with a special interest in Rhinoplasty and advanced endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery. Dr Khatib’s practice is currently based in Amman, Jordan.
Dr Khatib accomplished his Doctor of Medicine degree (M.D) from the University of Jordan in 2012. He completed his internship with excellence from Jordan University Hospital in 2013. His passion for ENT started when he accomplished an 8-week elective course at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, California, USA during his 6th year of medical school.
Dr Khatib completed his ENT training at Jordan University Hospital in 2020, and was rewarded the Higher Specialisation Certificate training in ENT from the University of Jordan. During his training, Dr Khatib decided to expand his research skills and expertise by Joining Professor Ricardo Carrau for one year at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, USA in the period 2015-2016. During his time with Prof. Carrau, he accomplished his USMLE certificate and passed USMLE Step 3 towards the end of his research fellowship. Professor Ricardo Carrau is world-renowned endoscopic skull base surgeon and is considered a pioneer and one of the most contributing scientists in the field of endonasal skull base surgery. During Dr Khatib’s time with Prof. Carrau, he was able to publish in first class journals in the realm of ENT. He was also fortunate to become an instructor in the Ohio State University Skull base cadaveric course in 2015.
Dr Khatib acquired his Jordanian Board Certificate in ENT in 2020 and soon left his country to complete one year of Clinical Fellowship in rhinology and endoscopic skull base surgery at Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide, South Australia. He was mentored by Mr Eng Ooi who has tremendous skills in head and neck cancer, advanced rhinology and skull base surgery. The quality and high turnover of cases enabled Dr Khatib to acquire rare skills enabling him bring back new advancements to his home country, Jordan.
Dr Khatib’s main interests are: sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, deviated nasal septum, Rhinoplasty (Nose Job), septal perforations, nasal tumors, otitis media, tonsillitis/adenoiditis, otitis externa, hearing loss, hoarseness of voice, laryngopharyngeal reflux, vocal cord nodules, temoporomandibular joint disorders, foreign bodies in ear, nose and throat, nasal bone trauma and fractures. He is also highly invested in snoring. Dr Khatib has special interest in balance disorders especially Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) and performs canal repositioning maneuvers with very high success rates. Dr Khatib’s general ENT practice is abundant with his unique approach to paediatrics.
